Happy Birthday Jamie

Jamie turned 15 yesterday. We adopted her from Ohio, like we drove 12 hours to pick her up. It is a story in itself! She’s super introverted, so she was afraid of us until we had been in the car together for a few hours.

She is a herder, so she used to float from room to room at night keeping track of us all.

Yelling and loud noises scared Jamie, she has lots of anxiety that used to cause her to run away from home. Once things settled down after my separation, she started to gain confidence and became a much happier dog. No more running away, and she’s not even afraid of storms anymore. She has always loved the babies on the farm, she thinks it’s her job to protect them.

Jamie had acute kidney failure when she was just 8 months old. They told us she likely wouldn’t live past age 6. A vet saw what she thought was a cancerous tumor about 3 years ago, but I’m guessing it was just a bad bladder infection. She’s not hearing very well these days,  but she still is so happy to see me each morning. She loves going out to the barn and she loves naps in the sun! I guess she has lived well past 6!!
